Camp Fortune Ski Club is a non-profit ski racing club dedicated to providing high quality ski race development programs for young athletes aged 7-19 years. The club is based at Camp Fortune Ski Resort – the closest ski hill to Ottawa, just 20 minutes drive from downtown. Our focus is on providing a skilled coaching staff to enable these young athletes to develop a strong technical foundation from which to progress. We are an athlete centered, coach led and a parent volunteer supported program. Due to our location at the border of Ontario and Quebec border we service both CFSC (AOA) and ASM (SQA) memberships.

Reporting to the Camp Fortune Ski Club Alpine Committee (AC) the successful candidate will be responsible for the supervision, management and implementation of the alpine ski racing programs with a staff of approximately 40 coaches for approximately 200 athletes, with approximately half enrolled in entry level Nancy Greene program, and the other half enrolled in individual competitive racing programs at U10 to U18 level.  Training and competitions may require travel to other resorts within Canada and the USA.

The AC is a group of 6 to 9 ski industry and business professionals who’s responsibility is to select the PD, determine coaching objectives, support the PD to achieve his/her goals and review coaching performance.


■   Plan, develop, implement and manage all of the Club’s programming (on and off snow) in conformance with national and provincial guidelines;

■   Work, plan, communicate pro-actively and collaboratively with coaching staff, resort operations and in a member-oriented environment to ensure communication, information sharing and excellence in customer service can occur between all stakeholders;

■   Responsible for race program operations, day-to-day issues, communicating and liaising with all stakeholders (Alpine committee, Club management Board, hill operations, coaches, volunteers and parents )

■   Oversee and coordinate with Hill operators age group races held at Camp Fortune, working in a collaborative role with Age Group Parent Chairs

■   Maintain quality training environment where athletes can be adequately motivated, develop and perform to the best of their ability;

■   Interview, hire, manage and evaluate all coaching staff  (from a pool of coaches with certification from CSCF EL to PL and CSIA 1 to 4) in consultation with Alpine Committee and within the budget set by the Club’s treasurers

■   Provide leadership, supervision, mentoring and evaluation to 6 lead coaches regarding goal setting, training focus, coach allocation, competition planning and attendance.

■   Implement coach certification and professional development training to ensure all coaches are current and grow to achieve their potential;

■   Maintain appropriate relations with provincial and national alpine organizations (AOA, SQA, ACA, National Capital Division, Zone de Ski Outaouais, regional development team (NOC)) and represent club interest during provincial, national and international competitions and selection/technical meetings

■   Perform other duties as required to achieve the objectives of the club.

■   Submit to the AC a year end review of the program review including age group program evaluations, lead coach reviews and recommendations, host race reviews, and general recommendations for the following year.




■   Strong positive leadership and interpersonal skills necessary to work pro-catively within  a large organization and team structure;

■   Excellent communication and computer skills;

■   Prior supervisory level experience;

■    Coaching  level 3 or  Performance Level or equivalent experience;

■   Level 2 official or equivalent experience;

■   Ability to communicate in both official languages is an asset;

■   Working knowledge of Alpine Ontario, Ski Quebec Alpin and FIS organizations and requirements is an asset

■   Exposure to FIS and/or LTAD performance racing programs at U14 U16 level is an asset;

■   Level C driving license is an asset;

Duration: Seasonal Contract  August 15 – May 15,
