In Memory of Mike Sheppard
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mike Sheppard, a long-time member of Camp Fortune Ski Club. Mike was well known in the National Capital Region ski community — supporting his two children who raced, and then as a race official. Mike was also the co-founder of the Anne Heggtveit Cup, the local FIS race hosted at Camp Fortune. He inspired many Camp Fortune parents to volunteer more and at higher levels.
Mike volunteered for many years at the Lake Louise World Cup, as well as the Birds of Prey World Cup in Beaver Creek. He was Crew Chief at the 2010 Olympics, which meant shoveling snow at 4am and more recently at the World Championships in St. Moritz. He had countless stories and made many friends at these events.
Mike had a love of adventure and fun. His great attitude was infectious and people loved being around him. He will be greatly missed. We offer our profound condolences to his loved ones.
